Analysis of the Age of Information in a Two-Phase Queuing System
Abstract
The report examines the problem of analyzing the Peak Age of Information (PAoI) in a two-phase queuing system. At the beginning, definitions for Age of Information (AoI) and Peak Age of Information are given as well as the review of the results obtained from the analysis of these metrics in single-phase queuing systems. After that the AoI in two-phase queuing system with 2 customers is considered. For each scenario of the relative location of customers in the system, a graph of the AoI as a function of time is presented and a formula for calculating the PAoI is obtained. Based on the results obtained for specific scenarios, the formulation of the problem of finding a general formula for calculating the Laplace-Stieltjes transform of the PAoI in a two-phase queuing system is obtained.
