Information Computer Modeling as a Systemic Concept in Constructing a Course of Computer Science at the Level of Basic General Education Based on the Use of Free Software

Abstract

In this paper, the authors set the goal of demonstrating the feasibility and feasibility of developing a methodology for teaching informatics in primary school, for which computer information modeling is a system-forming concept and the dominant activity of students, and also to study the question of what type of software is the most optimal as a base for the implementation of these methods in the conditions of modern Russian general education school.
The authors analyzed the characteristic features of the scientific method of computer modeling in relation to the educational process of the main general education school, and also showed its close relationship with all the content lines present in the school informatics course. Also, the potential possibility of forming most of the meta-subject results developed at the stage of basic general education in the field of universal educational cognitive and regulatory actions through the active use of computer modeling, implemented in the process of creating and studying information models built using free software environments, was revealed. Information computer models created and studied by primary school students are divided into four levels according to the complexity of their internal design and the complexity of the functionality of the software environments used for modeling purposes.
The article substantiates the thesis that only the use of free software makes it possible to fully implement the methodology of teaching computer science in primary school, for which computer information modeling is a system-forming concept and the dominant activity of students.
From the point of view of the authors, further development and improvement of the methodology for teaching informatics, built on the basis of the use of free software, in which the system-forming concept is information computer modeling, is currently in demand in the Russian educational community, since in this case it can be expected from schoolchildren, studying computer science within the framework of this methodology, the effective formation of the qualities of an engineer-researcher or IT-specialist-researcher.
